How LinkedIn handles the profile picture size
LinkedIn's help page states that a profile photo has to be between 400 by 400 and 7680 by 4320 pixels, under 8 MB, in PNG or JPG, and that GIFs are not supported. The same specifications page gives 400 by 400 as the recommended logo size for a company Page, so one square export covers a personal photo and a Page logo. The safe zone is zero on every side because the picture is masked to a circle, not a rectangle.
It is displayed small almost everywhere: a circle beside each post in the feed, smaller again in search results and messaging. A head and shoulders crop where the face fills most of the circle reads at those sizes; a full length photo does not. Leave a margin inside the square so the circular mask does not clip an ear or the top of the head, and skip text of any kind.
Upload the largest square you have rather than the minimum, since LinkedIn generates the smaller versions itself and the 400 pixel floor is a limit rather than a target. For a Page, use the same logo file you place on a 1080 by 1350 post so the mark is identical wherever someone meets it.
Questions about LinkedIn profile picture sizes
A square between 400 by 400 and 7680 by 4320 pixels, under 8 MB, in PNG or JPG. GIFs are rejected. LinkedIn masks the image to a circle and generates the smaller sizes itself, so upload the largest clean square you have rather than the minimum.
Close enough to share a file. LinkedIn's Page specifications recommend a 400 by 400 pixel logo with a 268 by 268 minimum, and both are displayed as squares with rounded corners or circles depending on the surface, so one square export covers each.
