Bold letters that paste into Instagram.

Instagram has no bold button, so a bold headline in a caption or bio is made of Unicode characters that look bold. Type a line below and copy it in bold, bold serif, bold italic, bold script, or bold gothic. It pastes into any field, including the name field, and into Threads, LinkedIn and X. Keep it to a headline or a name; a whole caption in bold is hard to read.

These are Unicode characters, not fonts, so they paste into any bio, caption, or comment. Letters without a match stay as typed. Keep it to a word or two: screen readers spell most of these out letter by letter.

How to make text bold on Instagram (bio, captions, comments)

First, type the words you want in bold in the box above. Second, copy the Bold row, or Bold serif if you want a heavier, more formal look. Third, open Instagram and paste into the bio, the caption, or a comment. The letters keep their bold look because they are separate Unicode characters, not a style Instagram could strip. The same three steps work on the web and in the app.

The name field takes bold text too, which is a common way to make a business name stand out above a plain bio. Instagram allows the name to be changed only a couple of times in a fourteen-day window, so paste it, look at the profile on a phone, and only then save. Bold digits exist in the bold and bold serif rows, so a phone number or a year can be bold as well.

Bold on Instagram vs bold on LinkedIn and X

The same characters work everywhere text is accepted: LinkedIn posts and headlines, X posts and display names, Threads, Facebook, TikTok bios and YouTube descriptions. None of those platforms has a bold button in the post editor either, so the Unicode route is what people use on all of them. Copy once, paste anywhere.

There are two places it fails. Ads platforms and some scheduling tools normalise text and strip or replace these characters, so check a bold headline in a promoted post before it goes live. And LinkedIn's search, like Instagram's, matches plain letters only, so a bold job title in a headline is not found by recruiters searching for that title. Bold the hook, keep the keywords plain.

How to use it

  1. 01

Type the headline, name, or phrase you want in bold. Digits work in the bold and bold serif rows.

  2. 02

Copy the row you like. Bold is the cleanest on a phone; bold serif reads as a book title.

  3. 03

Paste into your bio, caption, comment or name field. Check it on a phone before you post.

Questions

  • Type the text here, copy the Bold row and paste it into the bio, a caption or a comment. Instagram has no bold formatting, so the letters are Unicode characters that look bold and stay bold after the paste.

  • Yes. The name field accepts any text, and these are text characters. Instagram limits how often you can change your name, so check the result on a phone before saving.

  • Reach, no: it is ordinary text to Instagram. Accessibility, yes if overused. Screen readers announce many bold Unicode letters one at a time or as math symbols, and Instagram search does not match a bold keyword to its plain spelling. Use bold for a headline and keep the rest plain.

  • No. The conversion is a lookup table in your browser. Nothing is sent or stored.
