Social media image sizes in 2026

These are the upload sizes the resizer uses. They are the recommended pixel dimensions from each platform's current specifications, rounded to what the apps display. Upload at these sizes and the platform does no further scaling of its own.

Crop or pad, and which format to pick

Fill and crop scales the image until it covers the frame and trims the overflow from the center, which is right for photographs. Fit with padding scales the whole image inside the frame and fills the rest with a color you choose, which is right for graphics, screenshots and anything with text near the edge.

Save as JPG for uploads: every platform re-encodes to JPEG anyway, and the file is a fraction of the size. Save as PNG only for graphics with flat color and sharp text that you will edit again. If the JPGs are still large, run them through the compressor before uploading.

How to use it

  1. 01

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP. Start from the largest version you have; upscaling cannot add detail.

  2. 02

Tick the sizes you need. Fill and crop keeps the image edge to edge; fit with padding keeps every pixel and adds a solid border.

  3. 03

Save one size, or download the whole selection as a ZIP. Files are named by platform and pixel size.

Questions

  • Instagram feed 1080 by 1350 (4:5), square 1080 by 1080, Stories and Reels 1080 by 1920. Facebook link posts 1200 by 630, portrait 1080 by 1350. LinkedIn landscape 1200 by 627, portrait 1080 by 1350. X posts 1600 by 900, header 1500 by 500. Pinterest pins 1000 by 1500. YouTube thumbnails 1280 by 720. The resizer includes all of these plus covers and profile photos.

  • Crop for photos, where the edges rarely matter. Pad for graphics with text or a logo near the edge, then choose a padding color that matches the design so the border looks intentional.

  • Only if the source is smaller than the target. A 4,000 pixel photo downsizes cleanly to 1080; a 600 pixel screenshot stretched to 1920 will look soft. Start from the largest original you have.

  • No. Every size is drawn on an HTML canvas on your device and the ZIP is assembled in your browser.
