How Pinterest handles the idea pin size
Idea pins, which Pinterest has folded into its ordinary pin format as multi-page and video pins, are full-screen 9:16 frames. The product specs give 1080 by 1920 pixels for the format, accept MP4, MOV and M4V for video with a 2 GB cap from the app and 100 MB from the web, and allow video between 4 seconds and 15 minutes.
Pinterest does not publish safe-zone measurements for this format. The bands used here come from where the player draws its own interface: a page indicator across the top, and the title, your account and the action buttons stacked over the bottom. Keeping text out of roughly the top 200 and bottom 320 pixels, and 60 pixels in from each side, clears all of it.
There is a second crop most people miss. Pages are swiped like Stories, but the first page is also what appears in the home feed, cut down to the 2:3 column shape from a 9:16 frame. A title sitting high on the cover page is gone by the time it reaches the feed, so place it in the upper middle, roughly 400 to 900 pixels down the canvas, where both views keep it.
